What is the root?

Many users of android devices have heard such a thing as root-rights. What lies under this concept? In this article we will talk about what are the root-rights and what are their pros and cons. And also talk about the types of root-rights.

What are the root-rights

The word root means an account that has certain privileges in the file access area. Users who have root-rights are called super users. They can be compared with the administrators of the operating system. Root rights give the superuser access to all functions that are locked by default on the android device. Thus, the superuser can edit system files, change the registry, and perform operations with the cache. In general, root-rights help the user in working with system files. While without these rights, the user does not have access to the system files.

Root views

There are three types of root rights:

  • The first type is a permanent access to the ability to change system files and is called Full Root.
  • The second type implies access to files by limiting the system folder. It is called Shell Root.
  • Temporary Root. Called root-rights, which gives full access only before restarting the android device.

Pros of using root-rights

The main advantage of using root-rights is complete freedom of action. The user can remove all system applications, remove ads from applications, put traffic restrictions on the network, and also install custom firmware. Moreover, the user will not have restrictions on uploading files.

Cons of use

Now we should talk about what are the disadvantages of using root-rights. The main disadvantage is the risk of damaging the device.

  1. In this case, the manufacturer's warranty when using root-rights is automatically removed. Thus, in the event of a device failure due to a change in root-rights, the user will be forced to pay for repairs at a service center.
  2. Another disadvantage of obtaining root-rights is the high risk of disrupting the operating system. That is why before you install root-rights, you need to follow all instructions and make a backup copy of the system.
  3. Finally, getting root-rights completely cancels the automatic update of the device. After the user gets root-rights, he can download and install updates only manually.
