What is he: a hare?
Hares are so common to us animals that people at the zoo indifferently walk past, hurrying to look at more exotic animals. Probably, they are interesting only to hunters and rangers: the first - as a prey (and even then not the most desirable), and the second - by official necessity. It is unlikely that an ordinary person will seriously think about what he is, a hare. Meanwhile, with all their familiarity, these animals are very interesting and habits, and habits.
Who are the hares
As a genus, these animals comprise as many as 30 species. And they live everywhere - except for Antarctica and Australia. Of the many varieties in Russia there are only four: hare, white hare, tolai hare and Manchurian hare. They all have common features. So, the hare differs from the rabbit in that it does not dig holes - and this applies to all its varieties. The “home” for the animal is a kind of nest, arranged in a shallow hole.
It is noteworthy that, unlike the cubs of most mammals, the hares are born already fully formed: their eyes are open, and their coat is thick, almost like an adult animal.According to people, hares are disgusting mothers: they stay with their offspring for less than a week, after which they are seen only occasionally. At the same time, after two weeks, the babies are practically equal to adults in running, although they are still less enduring.
How do hares live
All species of these animals are twilight and nocturnal. In the afternoon, they settle down on the bed. In it, they can remain for several days if bad weather forces them, and leave only at close danger. Hares can breed several times a year; during the rut period, the males are desperately fighting with each other and are so careful that they let people get close enough to him. That's what he is - a hare, familiar and at the same time unfamiliar animal.
