Nowadays there are more and more people who are thinking about religion, therefore the number of issues related to this eternal topic is constantly growing. For example, the question whether Jesus Christ actually existed remains very popular, because there is no exact answer to this question. In this article we will try to answer some questions about this person. Of course, this article in no way wants to offend and hurt the feelings of believers - we just give some facts and arguments; Everyone will choose to agree with him or not.
Jesus Christ: Myth or Historical Person
To the question whether Jesus was, two fundamentally different schools answer. First, mythological, she denies the reality of Jesus as a historical person and considers him an exclusively mythological fact. This school has three main arguments:
- the absence of references to the miracles of Jesus Christ in secular (non-church) sources;
- the absence in the epistles of the Apostle Paul of historical information about the life of Jesus;
- the presence of parallels with Eastern myths about dying and resurrection gods.
Proponents of the same historical school do not even ask whether Jesus Christ really was. They call him a real person, not a myth. It is assumed that he was born in the period from 12 to 4 BC, and died in the period from 26 to 36 BC.
Was Jesus Christ married
The next question that interests many people is - was Jesus married? One of the reasons for this question is the popular film "The Da Vinci Code", where Jesus is considered married to Mary Magdalene. Theologians deny this fact, because in the Bible there is no mention of this fact. A pair of Gnostic Gospels mentions the close ties between Mary Magdalene and Jesus, but they are not called romantic anywhere. However, in September 2012, Karen King, a professor at the Harvard School of Theology, at the congress of Coptic studies announced a new find, a fragment of the papyrus, which mentions the words of Jesus "my wife." This find was called the "Gospel of the wife of Jesus" - the name is conditional, as there are doubts about the authenticity of the papyrus, and its belonging to the Gospel.
Karen King herself emphasized that this fragment does not prove that Jesus Christ was really married. She only notes that fourth-century Christians did not exclude such a possibility.People of the twenty-first century are invited to solve this question for themselves - although most often the answer to the question whether Jesus had a wife is answered in the negative, there are no reliable references to this.
The divine essence of jesus
Very often people ask the divine essence of Jesus Christ. Is Jesus a God? Each religion has its own answer to this question, but we will try to tell the main points of view. Christians are not asked about the divinity of Jesus, because he is the central figure in this religion. Christianity is based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, which are described in the New Testament; most Christian denominations consider him the Son of God, risen from the dead.
From the point of view, for example, of Islam, Jesus (Isa) is considered to be an approximate and messenger of Allah, one of his five main prophets. But according to the Qur'an, he was neither crucified nor killed, but was alive lifted up by Allah to heaven. He is considered the Messiah, an approximate, but the divine essence of Jesus is not mentioned. Modern Judaism denies the religious significance of the person of Jesus, therefore the supporters of Judaism do not recognize him as the Messiah. Therefore, they consider the use of the title Christ in relation to Jesus unacceptable (Christ is an epithet indicating the character of Jesuss mission, meaning anointed one).
In Southeast and Central Asia, the belief that Jesus was in these lands traveled is widespread among the adherents of Buddhism. Some Buddhists believe that Jesus is a bodhisattva who has dedicated his whole life to the benefit of people. Teacher Zen Gesan, who lived in the XIV century, found Jesus very close to Buddhism and an enlightened person, having heard some of his statements from the Gospel. In Gnosticism, there was no single view of Jesus Christ, which is explained by many different teachings. For example, according to the Manichs, Jesus was not equal to God, although he was a superhuman being and one of the most important prophets.
In our article we tried to consider the main views on the life of Jesus Christ, to highlight the most frequently asked questions about him. These views do not claim to be the absolute truth, but can provide brief information and a reason to get more complete information. We hope that no ones religious feelings were offended - we have maintained impartiality.
