Can I get married in the post?

Before setting the date of the wedding, people who believe in God check with the priests whether they can marry in fasting, and also carefully study the church calendar.

Marriage in the post: whether or not

Priests do not advise Orthodox people to marry or marry in fasting. What does this mean? It is allowed to register a marriage in the registry office, but it is forbidden to celebrate this day and get married. If the date of the wedding is already defined in the registry office, and you do not want to transfer it, then just sign it, and the feast is timed to the wedding date, when there will be no fasting.

Fasting is the length of time of inner contemplation, temperance, submission, the possibility of spiritual purification. Therefore, during the post all kinds of celebrations are prohibited. If the wedding date cannot be postponed, then the bride and groom should take into account that it is better not to hold the celebration. And if you do the table, then modest:

  • Lenten dishes;
  • The absence of any alcoholic beverages;
  • Contests, games and dances are not recommended.
